We're on shutdown this week so my buddy and I wanted to fish as much as possible and fish some waters we've never tried. We decided to make our first trip to Guntersville and see if we could catch some toads. Left the house around 4:15am with kayaks in tow and after a couple pit stops, pulled into Stevenson park around 5:30am. We launched and both had a fish on the 2nd cast. I pulled one in on a frog and Justin nailed one of the pop-r. We paddled around in the creek a ways and caught fish on the edges of the lily pads on both frogs and pop-r. Once the sun got up, we paddled towards the main channel and found more open water. Seems like any opening had a fish waiting to pounce on the frog. It was non-stop action on top until we loaded up around 12pm. We caught 25 total fish with the largest 5 going 23 lbs. My largest was about 6.5lbs on a frog. It was a blast seeing these pigs come up and slam the frog. Since I had to get a 7-day license, we're talking about going back later this week. It not this week, I definitely be back to the big G!
