Viva Naughton Report
#1
Hit Viva Naughton today. We fished the upper end of the lake in about 18 to 20 feet of water. The fishing was slow....We were on the lake at around 2:00 pm and fished until dark. Between two uf us we landed 3 fish and lost 2 others. Apparently the morning bite was better...it really shut down after 3:30. We moved around quite a bit trying to find a 'sweet spot', but never did. White with pink seemed to be the best color. All fish were caught on small curly tail jigs and Gentz worms. All bites were right on the bottom. The ice was 6" to 8" thick.

What is the story on parking on Viva Naughton? Do you still have to pay? Where is the easiest access to the ice? Hope to make it up for a trip or two on this year's license.

Yesterday was my first fishing trip through the ice at Viva Naughton. I didn't see a fee area sign on the first pull off by the dam. All other pull offs had fee area signs. I fished on the last pull off. After passing the fee area sign, I went left and passed a sign that said free public use area. So who knows if was supposed to pay or not... I didn't. Most people including myself pulled through the parking areas and parked directly on the bank.

Ok, thanks. Was just wondering if they still patrolled like they did in the past. I have never fished through the ice yet. I would like to try soon. It is my father's birthday on the 20th. He lives in Kemmerer, so I thought I would check it out when I go up to see him on his birthday. Thanks for the info.
