Candi and I had plans to fish together today and she picked me up at HBSP at 9:30 or so and we motored to our first spot. It is funny, but we started and ended in the same place today and caught fish both times that we fished this spot. In the afternoon just before we quit fishing, we caught better fish there, but they were deeper than usual.

We ran downriver today to fish and scout some places. Fishing was very slow down there, but we managed to catch a few. Had one unusual experience while I was reeling in a keeper crappie that was about 10 or 11 inches long and 3 big bass were trying to catch the crappie too. I yelled at Candi to drop a jig down there among them while they were hot and she said I can't. I have to land this fish first. She had a spotted bass on the line. When she got it released, the other bass had dropped back down into the deep water.

We did a lot of scouting today and I showed her what to look for on Delta structure. We learned how to mark the ends of roadbeds and looked at several different places that we don't normally fish. Scouting like this will pay dividends in the future for both of us. That is how you learn to find more than one or two spots to fish.

Saw Lovetofish out and about today. There were a couple of idiots out there too that don't have any common sense or courtesy about them at all. Just another opportunity to have the flesh knocked off ourselves and learn to forgive and forget.

I had a great time today, Candi. Thank you for letting me occupy the back seat, and not worry about where to fish or to run the trolling motor. It was very restful for me today.

Oh, we caught 24 crappie, the majority of which were keepers. A few really nice ones. 1 spotted bass, 2 bluegills, and 1 golden shiner.
Candi took all the pics today and will post them later on this thread. I just have one pic of a new lure that I tried today and caught 1 crappie on, hung it up and almost lost it, and then put it back up for safer waters. emoBig emoGeezer Water temp was 64.7 the only time that I looked today. Lake level was 678+. TVA will probably start drawing down to winter level beginning November 1st.
