Going to run my neighbors English bulldog along side of my expert yellow lab on the pheasant hunt this evening. This should be fun to watch. bull has no idea what hunting is but it does retrieve balls. I just hope she is not gun shy.
Didn't see many on the opener, my dog did jump a rooster and a hen.

Nice, the pheasant hunt opener was pretty fun.
I hadn't been for a few years but there was tons of action on Saturday, missed my share of birds in the morining but managed my 2 before noon.
went back out yesterday morning and the weather was keeping the birds pretty tight to cover if you didn't have a dog which I don't. Only saw 2 yesterday and managed to pop one of them. Saw some chukar and quail too.
A good dog is money on the pheasants.
good luck on the test run of the bull.

Nice birds! The Bull hung at our feet the whole time while my dog worked his butt off. Been slim pickens in the places I have tried. I have another area I'll give a shot.

I was duck hunting at Farmington bay the day before the opener and helped the DNR release a pile of roosters out there. Tough hunting but they are there. Realized my golden is simply to old to hunt anymore which sucks out loud. Trying to talk the wife into a new dog isn't going well to say the least. Ugh!

Its been great up here in southern Idaho and northern Utah. The DNR up here has checked me twice and both officers said the bird harvest numbers are pretty low, but I guess I've been fortunate to find some good areas with low pressure and lots of birds. Me and a buddy have killed 34 over my dog since the opener in Idaho, and Utah has been pretty great to us as well.

Nice work on finding the birds. It has been slow for us this season. You wont catch me out on the WMA's for the planted birds...I've heard it has been a zoo.

I actually hit a WMA for my first time this year on opening day. There was some guys out there but this particular one wasn't a zoo at all. I only felt crowded for a few minutes right at first and after that we were all good. Got 5 birds for 3 guys too it was a great morning.
