I got out for a short mid day/ afternoon trip. I got into a few schooling fish in 20fow that were willing to eat a spoon. There weren't a ton of shad in the area and only a few birds working around. The action was fairly steady, but it never got crazy with any fish busting the water. I also caught 15 crappie on a brush pile, mostly little ones.
I caught 10 or so healthy fat white bass, 20 yellows, 5 largemouth with the best at 3.5, and I had one rock fish on for about 3 minutes that was going crazy on 8lb test and a spinning rod. Somehow the hook just slipped out. I'm still mad about that one. It was a fun afternoon and beautiful outside. This is my favorite kind of fishing because there's about 10 species you could hook into at any time.
I'm looking forward to the schooling to keep heating up.
