Underwater fishing lights
#1
Anybody ever used submerged fishing lights (typically green?) while out on the ice (or otherwise)?

Example: http://www.fishinglightsetc.com/

I've heard different things, but I would imagine that it wouldn't hurt your chances. I'm in the process of building my own (MUCH cheaper than buying) and just wondering what others have seen. When/if I finish, I'll post up the whole project.

I haven't used them but I know a guy who ties a string on a glow stick and lowers it down an icehole close to the ones he is fishing. Contemplated it but never tried it......

I have used glow sticks on the gorge for burbot. It didn't seem to make a difference at all. I did the same with or with out.

I've seen a lot of people selling the mini-glow sticks on ebay made for fishing.

The problem with those chemical lights is that they become less effective in the cold; not ideal for ice fishing.

Plus, those little sticks don't put out all that much light. The LED strip I purchased puts out 70 lumens, so I'm hoping it will make some kind of difference.

Once you get a chance to try it out and see if it makes any difference make sure you post your findings on here. I for one have thought about it quite a bit and would love to know if there is truth to the legend.
