You should consider picking up a fishing regs book. You're 20 days late for Henry's. The next time you can fish there legally is the Memorial Day opener...

The regs are posted on the Idaho Fish and Game website if you need to check out a location. If you're planning heading this way, Island Park and Ashton Res. open year round. The action hasn't been hot, but the weather is nice to be out. And I will say the fish out of I.P. taste much better than those I took out of Henry's.

Those 'bows from IP are good eating, but not as good as the brook trout from Henry's! [signature]

Yes, one was a cutt, the other was a bow. Both had an oppressive mossy/ mud taste. Maybe it's a symptom of low water, but I've not experienced that strong of a taste in them in prior years. The Brookies I know taste better, but the ones I iced were small, 12 inch and under. I put them back to grow for another time.[]

Bow???? Or Hybrid. I have consumed both Hybrid and Brook from Fall henry's. As one that rarely eats fresh water fish, both were very good with preferrence to the Hybrid. May be ingredients. I do understand the mossy or muddy taste which I have experienced at other waters, but never Henry's. Just my take. [signature]

Yes, Rainbow. I caught three out of Henry's during the 2013 season. Coloring and spotting indicated that they were Rainbow.
The hybrids, bows, and brookies all do seem to have a better flavor than the cutts. Still, nothing I take from Henry's taste better than the fish out of I.P. I fish Henry's mainly for the opp to catch a big fish. Although I have noticed that during the last couple years the 'catching' at Henry's has been significantly better than at I.P. or Palies. I know there are stray Brown in there, but first I've heard of Rainbow. Anything is possible. Thanks. I think different time of year effects the taste. [signature] |
