UL ice fishing report, fell in but worth it
#1
Ice fished UL on friday the 28th from 2:30 pm-4:30 pm. Weird day.
I fell in up to my testes with right leg but was easy to get out. 2 weeks before a friend and I had spread a little sand/gravel for traction on the slick ice. The material had absorbed enough solar rays to weaken the ice in the little area we had spread sand on.
The ice was still about 8" thick around the sanded area, after stepping on it to fight a fish I went right in.
Caught a carp, a mudder, a very decent channel, a few gills, and lost a big whitey right at the hole. All these in just a little over an hour. My finder showed a lot more fish but just investigators and no more takers. My leg going through the ice must have rattled my area pretty good.
Fished for about 40 minutes after falling through without any more fish landed and then called it a day.
Stick a fork in Utah Lake ice for me, it is done.

Good report , great pictures . You need to get some Stableicers for your boots , they work great on glare ice .

I'm surprised there was still fishable ice on UT lake with all unseasonable warm weather. Nice catch

I did not, it was probably around 2.5 lbs. or so.
I released him in to the water that was around the shoreline.

The ice cap was melted back enough I had to put a milk crate in the water and then a 2x10 plank on top of it to get on.
