anyone fished up here without a flyrod? just wondering what they are biting. i did pretty well on jigs last year around this time. taking my daughter for her birthday tomorrow. she cant throw the fly yet and the lower end is closed.

Fish some of the deeper, slower areas with 1/16 ounce maribou jigs. Use darker, natural colors like black, brown or olive.

I've done well with a #2 vibrax spinner in gold, cast upstream an reel in with the currant near a deep hole. Or even a j9 brown trout pattern rappala. Some those fly guys might give you a dirty look for chuckin loud things in the water. But I've caught some nice browns this way below the dc damn all the way too the the old bidger
