Yuba Recently

Has anybody been fishing Yuba in the last week or two? Looking to head down this Saturday and want to make sure we are able to launch a boat.

We fished it Saturday from my boat. No problem, at all, launching boats. Catching a fish was an entirely different matter. We tried casting the shoreline, vertically jigging and trolling and never got a bite.

Thanks for the reply. Were you targeting Pike? Trying to figure out if they are active enough to chase with a fly rod yet.

Yes, we were targeting pike. I talked to a few others who also had no luck. We saw a couple anglers fishing from shore who had caught a couple small pike.

Yeah, I've been thinking the same way about trying Yuba, but it's probably just a little early for the pike. I think I'll hit Utah Lake a couple of times in the meanwhile for whatever, and start trying Yuba in a couple of weeks. I sure can't get excited about going for slimers.

the pike should be just coming off their spawn, they will need a few weeks before they get active and feeding.

Me, my son and grandson went last Friday. Nice weather and the fishing was good but the catching not so good. Still a little early.
I think it will be a busy year at Yuba. We launched at 1:30 and there where 9 other trucks and trailers parked at the Oasis lot. I fished hard baits and spinner baits. My son fished with his fly pole most of the time. I caught the only pike.
