9' Fish Cat ?
#1
A lady with a storage unit close to mine saw me putting some fishing gear in the locker.

She asked me if I wanted to buy some fishing stuff.

Her husband had pasted not long ago and she was getting rid of everything in storage.

She has a 9' Fish Cat with trolling motor, battery, transport wheels, pump, 2 pair of wetsuit bibs, and a whole duffle bag full of accessories.

Do any of you guys fish out of one of these? If so what do you thing of them?

She wants $350 for everything. Should I give it a try?

How old and used is the gear? The boat sells for $740+ new. Minn Kota 30 motor about $100. Not sure about the wet suit bibs, never seen those. What stuff in the duffle? At this point $350 might be a great deal.

All the stuff was piled up in a corner way in the back of the unit so I did not get a real good look at it.

She said that it had only been used a handfull of times.

If I was to get it I would keep it in the shop up at the lake.

Can you leave them inflated all the time?

Absolutely, in fact, that is a good way to leave them. Inflate it soft and don't panic if it sits for awhile and looses air.
9' is a great length too. Plus the shop is in Boise.

If your really interested in a fish cat I'll make you a good deal. I have a 10' stand-up with motor I'll sale cheap. $600.00 OBO. It would also come with battery and a host of goodies. I planned on posting it on the for sale board but just haven't done it yet.

Boat alone is almost a thousand dollars new at Cabelas.

Nice! Now just have to decide if the extra foot and standing platform are worth the $300. [Wink][Smile]

Great prices here guys.

I know very little about boats, but I think you hit the jackpot. I'd give her 350.00 fast as I could beg the wife. The wetsuit bibs sound like neoprene waders to me? If so, worth anything from 50.00-300.00 new. Just check for condition. Not worth it if you have to patch and treat the boat and overhaul the engine.

I was thinking Neoprene fishing waders as well but putting the price more at $30. to $150 (boot foot) but you could be right.

On the Pontoons (both) they are made overseas, the bladders are Vinyl not Urethane and have a 5 year warranty. Outcast does have good quality equipment.
With these boats, the only way short of putting them in water, to know if they have a leak is to inflate and wait. Chances are the outer cover can look fine, it is the bladders that can be of concern, specially being vinyl.
Not saying vinyl is a bad choice, but it is more susceptible to creases, and tears. Aqua seal will patch any bladder unless it is at a seam or a valve.
You really need to inflate it and wait a day.
What other gear?
