Fished Cascade today. Looked for perch most of the A.M. with no success. Saw lots of other boats but they weren't producing either. Switched to trolling for trout in my favorite areas, but no go. Finally found the perch in the afternoon. They were in 5-6 feet of water. Many times we pulled our outfits in and they were covered with perch eggs. Pretty much a perch per cast. I would write more, but I just realized I am just trying to put off filleting 'em! Mike

Blown off the water Saturday.
Man what a bummer, drive up about 10 am, Launched at Sugarloaf, and troll around the cove for awhile with no takers. Venture out to the mount and fight the white caps and see how much water came over the bow. Managed to catch one, but got tired to fighting the waves. Load up and moved to Boulder Creek. Was not any better up there. Loaded up and back on the road at 1. It was a nice drive. Got some VERY good huckleberry ice cream in Horseshoe Bend. So not a total waste.

Same thing happened with us. Launched about 9 with moderate winds then the gates opened up. Spent the next two hours fighting it and decided to eat some lunch at blue heron and get out of there.Fished off the bank after eating in the cove there at heron and caught a few nice perch. Disappointing first trip for us.

Yep, it was like Lowe185 and I were saying in a PM the other day....the only certainty about Cascade is that yesterday's successful pattern won't work the next day! Maybe the falling barometer contributed to the poor fishing. Like I said, our bait and weight were coming in coated with perch eggs frequently. Maybe post-spawn caused them to move out? Sorry you didn't have a better day. Oh well, huckleberry ice cream tastes better than fish! Mike

the ice cream was pretty tasty, but so are the perch with a little butter, season all and two slices of Dutch oven bread. yum.
Like you said Mike, time to switch over to post spawn fishing spots. And hope for a day without 80mph winds.

Two of my favorites for fillets is ground cheese nibs or ground blue corn chips. Dip in egg, then nibs or chips. Eat until full..
