I went to CJ on Friday. I caught crappie everywhere, but the largest wasn't even as big as my hand. Perch were biting too, but few and very small.

The water was murky at Cottonwood, but clear in the narrows. Water temp was 62 when I launched and stayed under 65 until mid-afternoon.

My second strike of the morning was a nice bass that snapped my line after a few seconds of fighting.

Hopefully some larger fish will show up soon. I'm planning to go again next week.

There are larger fish biting. You just have to know where to go. I have been out about 4 times in the last 10 days and each time I kept a dozen or so over 10". The bigger ones only bite from about 5am-730am though.

p.s. Im not saying where to go beings I have had the place to myself most days. Just letting you know to do some exploring and get away from the crowds

Thanks. I have a few days off coming up soon, and plan to hit the water earlier next time.

I explored more of the lake on my last trip and found one new spot of interest. I plan to explore more next time. I have a chart of the lake and will look for interesting spots to check out.

On the 15th i fished a good sized cove in the cottonwood area but on the other side. Caught everything from too tiny to fillet, up to about 8" crappie. Caught a mixed bag of perch and bluegill too.. presentation was everything.... speed, depth, made a big difference. I was out catching my buddy 10 to 1.

I caught crappie every spot i tried.
