Jmax, Chick, Bass,*** CBA for the win!***, 6/7/14, Derek
#1
The Stars must have been in line and the world was all in order today. Or you could just say Miracles do happen. emoAngel Derek and I have been struggling to catch a cold in a CBA this year after our good showing in Feb. Today it was just meant to be. We had a great day. Derek's first bass in the boat was on his first cast. emoEek I had not even got out of the passenger seat yet. I was getting my rods ready and Derek starts hollering for the net. emoConfused A nice five came into the boat. Couple casts later he boated a nice one around three and a quarter, then a keeper two. About ten minutes later I get a hard knock on my worm and set the hook into a small submarine. Pulled drag and put up one heck of a fight. Since I have been loosing all the big fish I have been hooking lately I was waiting for that to happen on this one. However like I said, it was our day and she came into the boat. A beauty of a bass at 8.98 lbs.(pic below) emoEek She took big bass of the tournament today. emoThumbsup We moved around a lot but we actually caught bass in every single place we stopped. We did not blank one time. emoTongue We were at one grass line where we saw some shad working, I picked up the dreaded spook and shot it over to the edge. Second cast there a four just sucked it down. When it is going right, it is going right.

Most of our fish came off worms but a couple came off jigs, the one spook bass, cranks, beavers and shakeys. We caught our better bass on grass edges next to deeper water. They were coming out of around 7 foot but later in the day we had to go deeper and caught many in about 15 to 20 foot. We boated about five limits of bass today and the last four pounder came from about sixteen feet at 3 o'clock. So you can see we had one of those days where things just went right. We lost four or five bass but all of them we saw and none would have helped us. Ended up with 25.06 lbs but we had one die on us and we got hit with a half pound penalty. Thank the Lord that still did not keep us from the win. Our weight after the penalty was 24.56 lbs with three other 24 lb sacks right on our heels. emoRolleyes

This was Derek's first win in a CBA and I was very happy for him to have that happen. Not to mention the money. emoThumbsup

Had a great time, Thanks go out to Hunter Oil for sponsoring this one and the officers for another great tournament. Also a big thanks to Denali Rods, we got two signature series Terry Bolton rods retail value at $249 each and a $100 cash for big bass. Not a bad haul, $2,100.00 in cash total and $498.00 in rods. emoThanks Jmax
