New Tube!!! Where to go?
#1
I ordered a new float tube a couple weeks ago and was told it would be back ordered till mid-September. I just got an email yesterday telling me that it has shipped and should be here Friday. I am stoked and I want to get it out on the water Saturday morning if possible.

I just got a new job and moved from Salt Lake up to Cache Valley a couple months ago and really don't know the area really well. Any suggestions on where to take the tube for the maiden voyage? I live right at the mouth of Blacksmith Fork Canyon and I would like to go somewhere that is about 45 minutes or less from my home.

What kind of fish do you want to target? Cutler is good for cats, panfish, or bass. Newton would be good for panfish. I haven't been to Hyrum recently but usually can catch some bass and trout. I have only hit porcupine once this summer but you can pick up some browns, rainbows, and kokes as long as the kokes aren't red. I am still new up here also. I have only been up here for a year and a half, so I am still trying to figure things out.

Tubing in Cache valley: Hyrum, Mantua, Newton, Willard Bay, plus those already mentioned. All are very low, but have decent fishing for multiple species.

I would like to use my fly rod if possible, but I am not opposed to using a spinning rod as well.

Does anyone have any experience catching kokes out of a float tube? I am guessing jigging would be the best option.

You also have a ton of lakes across the Idaho border that are very toon friendly. My vote would be porcupine, but the Kokes are in spawn mode so focus on bows, Cutts and browns. There has been a lot of bows feeding surface so your fly will work. Hyrum would be great if the crowd factor doesn't make it too rough. Good luck. J
