Fat Albert canceled on me and Madbomber today, so I took Rickylove2fish today in lieu of a morning of laughter and battling 25 mph winds. Actually, the 3 amigos are going to do this on Friday out of Riverpark. Spots beware. I will be driving my boat this time, so there will not be any front ending me by the Madbomber. emoBig Payback is h**l.

Back to today's fishing trip. We put in at Skull Island ramp this AM for no apparent reason, but I'm so glad that we did. That ride all the way back to HBSP would have been brutal. It was bad enough from the short drive that we had. But, early on, the wind wasn't too bad. Only about 10 mph. We managed to find a couple of docks that were partly sheltered and caught several nice keeper crappie from under them. I took home 13 keepers and 1 spotted bass. We now have enough fish for Candi's fish fry that they are having with the Goodwill dog people and some of the people who have received the dogs.

I fished with 1/24 oz slab slayers most of the time, although I did catch a few fish on 1/16 oz Bobby Garland slab slayers. Anything chartreuse will catch fish at this time. The Kid's special color, my favorite color, and Candi's new favorite color is blazing hot right now. Bone/white chartreuse, pearltruese, Screamer, - just about anything with chartreuse will will tease the crappie into biting. Most of our fish came rather deep (15 ft). I had a fish break me off in a blowdown, but I think that I had a bad place on my line.

Ricky and I did some scouting as well when the wind got impossible and found a deep brushpile that had some fish in it. I only caught one fish out of the mess, but Crazy Ivan was all over the place with the wind blowing on the boat so hard. We finally gave up and said to heck with this. We will come back and fish this on a calm day.

Water temp was 64.8 degrees this AM and stained up in places. Thanks for going with me, Ricky. We will do this again sometime soon. emoBig emoGeezer
