Pre-Registration For Fish Lake Perch Tournament
#1
Team members will still be required to sign in at the registration location, as a group, however individuals and team members can reduce their registration time by printing and signing the Registration form below.

Turn in the signed form at registration locations at Lake Side Marina, or the Twin Creeks Parking lot, starting at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24th. If you are planning to enter a team, we will get a list of your team members (four per team) when you turn in your registration form.

See you Saturday.

I appreciate this but have a question I hope you can answer?
Maybe I read it wrong but one of the prize categories is for the first three man group to turn in 300 perch wins that category. Since teams are made of four men, why the three man category but not a four man category?
I apologize in advance if I read it wrong.
Last thing, would it be possible for you to attach the rules to this thread?
Thank you.

If anyone is headed down to the tourney and has an extra seat I would be glad to fill it and help split any gas costs. I can provide references if needed! [cool]

To register as a team can we have all members fill this out and then just have one bring it to the registration tent. I also think there going to be a lot of people attend this since the burbot bash seems too risky to go to. I know the two teams we had are now coming up to the perch tournament so maybe we could do registration from 630 to 8. Just a thought. Thanks for putting this together.

Let me try to clarify the team question SBennitt:

There aren't any 3 man teams, only 4 man teams, in the Perch Tournament at Fish Lake. There are also individual contests for youth, women, and men.

Regarding the team contests:
We will award prizes to the first three teams that turn in a total of 300 perch. Each of the 4 team members, on each team, will receive a prize.

One additional team of four, that turn in the "most pounds of total perch", at the end of the day, will win 4 Ruger 10/22 Rifles, one for each team member.

Note: no one will be awarded more than one contest prize, so........... if a teams wins a prize, for being one of the first three teams that turn in 300 perch, will not be eligible to compete in the "most pounds of total perch" contest, for the four rifle prizes. So each team will decide which contest they want turn their perch catch for.

I hope that covers the question.

Thanks for the inquiry lumberjack031. It's still too dark to see at 6:30 and we have no lights at the lake so 7:00 is the earliest we can see to get started.

All four team memberrs will need to report in at the registration tables.

I hope folks remember this a free tournament, actually a conservation project to remove perch. Come, have some fun, eat a hot dog and drink a hot chocolate, and help us remove a ton of perch from Fish Lake. None of our prizes are worth enough, including the .22s, to get too urgent over. I hope folks will cut us a little slack as we work to get everyone out on the ice, as quickly as possible.

I hope that makes sense too.

See ya Saturday.

Yes, most of the "regular" parking lots are open and free of most of the snow. We have been told that the Forest Service is going to try to plow one of the camp grounds in the next two days so there will be a few spots for people who have called the Forest Service and requested a camping location. There "maybe" some parking let over in the camp ground to allow for some vehicle parking, depending on the number of over night camper that come.

HOWEVER, it is winter at Fish Lake, there is 12" to 18" of snow along the edges of the highway and there is too much snow to just pull off anywhere, so please try to be careful when you do park and make as much room of others to park as well.

There is DANGEROUSLY THIN ICE there there is clear ice in middle of Fish Lake, 2". I measured it yesterday afternoon. Please........DO NOT GO ON ANY CLEAR ICE THIS WEEKEND!

The "frosty colored ice" around the perimeter of the lake is 5" to 7" thick, thicker on the south end out from Lake Side Resort and an inch or two thinner, down to 5 inches thick on the north end, out from the Joe Bush parking area.

The "frosty color ice" should be safe, as safe as any 7" thick ice and be, but CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION anytime you're ice fishing and just good judgement where ever and when ever your fishing on the Lake.

PLEASE, DO NOT BRING 4 WHEELS OR SIDE BY SIDE UTVs. We can't stop you from using them but the ice is simply too thin to trust it to carrying the weight of ATV or UTV, also, with as many people as we plan to have at the event, there will be no parking available for ATV trailers. We'll need every inch we can muster for vehicle parking.

Thanks for checking, hope to see you at the lake.

Thanks lumberjack031. We really could use some help, at our registration tables. We need to get folks through that as rapidly as possible, if you would like to, come to anyone one of the 5 locations:
Doctor Creek, Lake Side Marina, Twin Creeks, Mackinaw, or Joe Bush registration areas at 7:00 a.m. , tell who's every there doing registrations that DeLoss said you could help with the registration process and they'll put you to work. At this time, I plan to be at the Twin Creeks Registration location, if you would like to come there and help me specifically, that would be outstanding.

Thanks again.

Chucker, you stated there are 5 locations to register. Is that correct? It states on the flyer that it was at twin creeks. If that is correct having the 5 areas to register, then is the final weigh in at twin creeks and can we bring in the perch to be counted at any of the 5 areas for the perch count?

gmanhunter, as the interest in the tournament is increased, we have determined that attempting to have everyone coming to the event try to go through a single registration location, would be too slow and to frustrating for all involved. We've decided to spread the registration across the entire length of the lake, from the south end, middle, and the north end of the lake, so participants can spread out and get registered quicker, with less congestion, if that make sense?

Once registered people can go to any safe location on the lake that they wish, ie: they could conceivable register on the north and come 5 miles back, to fish on the south end, if the so chose.

At approximately 8:30/9:00 a.m., after the majority of folks have registered and are out fishing, we will close all the registration areas with the exception of the registration area at Lake Side Marina. From that point in the day, all activities, contests, lunch, counting, measuring, end of day weigh in activities and awarded prizes will be conducted at the Lake Side Marina. We are only going to keep the four other registration areas open during the early morning registration period. We have determined the Twin Creeks area does not have adequate parking for the number of people we are now anticipating will be attend. As of now, the only thing going on at Twin Creeks, will be a two hour registration period.

We will have signage, on the highway, that we believe will help direct people to the registration areas.

Hope that answers your question appropriately.

Chucker,

Have you heard how they are handling the campground. Whether it's first come first served, or if they are taking reservations?

EricTheMad, I haven't received any information on the camp ground at Fish Lake for this event. They are all U. S. Forest Service camp grounds, which are generally closed during the winter months. I heard a rumor yesterday that the USFS was doing something about opening (moving snow) one of their camp grounds but to my knowledge no one from the USFS was has contacted anyone involved with the tournament, from our end. Frankly, it would be outstanding it the USFS were to do that and make some space available but that is outside of my "pay grade", so I'm not the one to give you much help there.

The USFS Office that administers Fish Lake is located in Loa, Utah, their phone number is (435) 836-2811, for folks that might like to check with them.
