This unusually warm weather is really getting me excited for ice off at the higher lakes. I recently moved to St. George, and are am not too familiar with the lakes down here. I am starting the research and preparation early this year! I have a pontoon boat, and would like to stick to smaller lakes. Any suggestions on where I should start? Any help would be much appreciated.

When I lived in St. George to escape the heat, I would go to Kolob Reservoir or Enterprise Reservoir.
Not sure how they are now, but 12 years ago they were both fantastic.
I once had a trout follow my spinner to the shore and when I raised it out of the water about 12-14" it blasted out of the water and hit the spinner. Scared the crap out of me though.
Good luck where ever you decide to go!

You have Sand hollow, Quail, and Gunlock close. Kolob Can be good at certain times of the year. Then Panguitch, Enterprise, Newcastle, Minersville, Duck creek, Aspen mirror, Otter Creek, Yankee Meadows. Then all the rivers and creeks in between.
Dont wait for ice off...Fish the ice! Its my favorite time of year.

I wish I could fish the ice. I have no equipment! And my vehicle probably won't make it to the upper lakes with snow on roads! I am forced to wait, which is terrible by the way.
