Minn Kota vs Motorguide
#1
I'm in the market for a bow mount trolling motor for a 17' bass tracker rated for 60 HP max. I can't seem decide between the Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 (http://www.amazon.com/Minn-Kota-Powerdri...r+drive+v2) and the wireless motorguide (http://www.amazon.com/MotorGuide-trollin...motorguide).

Any reason to pick one over the other?

This is like asking is Lowrance or Humminbird better for a fish finder, so you are likely to get lots of answers. However, if you look at the majority of the bass pros and walleye pros you will see a LOT more Minn Kotas. That has to say something about their quality. Personally, I've run Minn Kotas on all my boats and never had any issues besides general maintenance (changing gaskets in the lower motor section, etc.). Each to their own.

Yea, I agree with Scott, I use a Minn Kota, I know of only one or two members that prefer motorguide. I have heard that motorguide makes a better saltwater motor, but unless you plan on fishing the great salt lake that won't matter around here[Wink].
