Rockport Party
#1
I've been looking for a site ike this for Utah. The KSL and KUTV and DWR sites are to slow and infrequently used.

I want to come to the party to try Ice Fishing and bring my 4 1/2 year old son. Problem is I don't have an auger or much in the line of Ice gear, Would it still be ok for us to come and find what it is all about and meet some of you?

There will be plenty of people around from BFT that would be glad to let you drill a hole or two. Just don't pound the auger tips into the ice! It will ruin the blades. You do not NEED an ice pole to fish, just a couple of regular poles will do. Just go spend 10 bucks on some ice flys, small jigs, and a few mealies, and you are set. Dress warm, and prepare to have fun. Wish I could be there to meet you. Good luck, I hope the fishing is good, so your son can be "hooked"![Smile]

Both my brother and myself have augers and I'm sure most of the other members and you are more than welcome to use mine. I will even have and extra pole or two if your young one does not have one and he will be more than welcome to use it. Come and join us I think we are going to have a really good time. Just P.M. polokid and give him a count and if you can bring something let him know what. Look forward to seeing you there.

I myself am not going to be able to make the party, but I don't think anyone here will mind that we sorda think the more the merrier. As for gear I have seen alot of people fishing with regular poles on the ice. I am sure some one will let you use their auger or drill you a hole.

Troll, I think that there will be a BFT banner in the area of the boat ramp. Just ask someone there for help with an auger. I bet you can even get set up with the right tackle to. If you have a FRS radio call on channel 12 and ask if someone could drill a couple of holes for you. Just be sure to come up there with the kids but be sure to have warm cloths and good boots for them so they will be able to enjoy the day. DKSrenegade

As the coordinator to this event on Saturday, i gladly welcome you and your family to the Rockport party. As for an auger, i am leaving mine home. I am sure there will be plenty of them in our large group. As for a pole, you really dont need one, just your regular pole will work, more sensitivity the better. but if interested you can get a ice pole from Hooked tackle in kaysville for as little as $6 and at sportsmans warehouse in SLC i recently bought one for $2.99. One piece of advice if you get one of the inexpensive ones, get a wire strike indicator. with the strike indicator, they make those inexpensive rods better than any others you can get. a strike indicator is only like $.75. Look forward to meeting you!!!! any other questions feel free to email me at polo_kid13@hotmail.com

Just FYI. I was at Sportsman's on Sunday, and overheard someone asking for the wire bobbers. The salesman said they were out. Call before you go buy, wherever you go.

Yes, I was there today at lunch and inquired about them and they are still out. The salesman said he wouldnt have more until next week. Might want to ask James from HFT.
