Partner had to miss Saturday night so I fished solo. Everyone I knew of was hitting deep stuff so I went another direction I fished a grass flat that has a deeper ditch in the middle and pretty soon caught a short fish. Right after I thought a big blue ate my swim jig but it turned out to be a 9.30 largemouth! First big fish I've managed to find this summer. Right after I lost one that looked between 5.5 to 6 lbs emoBang He hit and ran right at the boat and I just couldn't get a hard hook set on him and those jigs have pretty big hooks so you have to let em have it hard! I caught a few more shorts but no more keepers. Added one around 3.5 later and after dark tried and tried to get a third fish but no more keepers wanted to cooperate. Went to weigh in and we had 2 bags over 12 and I knew that not having that third fish would get me beat. Weighed mine in and had right at 13 emoDance Got the win and big fish. I would've had a real nice limit if I got that second one in the boat but I'm quite happy either way. As always a good group of guys showed up and we had a good time. Can't beat night fishing right now. Didn't get a picture of the big fish, Tim offered but she'd been riding in the livewell all night so I thought it was best to give her a speedy release back to the lake. Thanks again guys and see you this weekend!
