Hello again!
I'm always surprised about how many people I meet in the Boise area that have never been to the Trinity Mountains and Rainbow Lake Basin. The big fires of 2012 and 2013 burned up to the Trinity Lakes and Big Roaring lakes, but the 9 lakes of the Rainbow Lakes area were completely untouched!
My kids and I hiked in for a backpacking trip this past weekend and had a blast. Only 1.5 miles to the first lakes, so great trip to take kids!
Lakes visited:
Green Island
Fiddle
Little Lookout
Big Lookout
Heart
Fishing report:
Tons of fish caught (30?) in the smaller lakes, using hardware and flies. Really, everything seemed to be working. Most fish in the smaller lakes were 7 - 9 inch cutts.
Fiddle was better, with 12" cutts caught.
My 18-year-old daughter scored the fish of the weekend, however, with an amazing 16-inch cutt, taken from Big Lookout. All fish were released.
