Brownlee 8/7
#1
Fished Brownlee today and went in through Huntington, The fire is out and the air was clear and the wind was blowing. We put in at Spring Cr. Ramp and went down a ways.. I'm new to Brownlee so my fishing buddy was showing me around a little bit. Of course looking for Crappies.. we found a few hanging out. I got out fished today by a good margain.. They were fair size and we tried to be real selective and threw 4 back for every 1 kept. We ended with 22. A nice 2 lb cat added some fun on the ultralight gear. So overall a great first outing on the back end of Brownlee. Its a short, easy drive 1 hr 15 min. Into some decent crappie in the heat of August.. I also wanted to show off this quilt Art my Mom made for me[fishon]

Thanks for posting about Brownlee, glad you hit it up. I just arrived today and will be at Woodhead until Monday. Yes it's freaking hot, Plan on doing Brownlee and Oxbow. I will post something as the days go on.
On a side note, the park host measured a 17 inch fillet crappie at the fish cleaning station, biggest they seen this year. Not that there are many out there, but still gets me excited. Reminds me of the Dumb and Dumber movie, so I still have a chance.

So by hot, do you mean the weather or the catching?

Hot as in weather, and fishing ain't to bad also. I only counted 4 boats out today. There is like no one up here. Found crappie 9-11 inch, not a lot, so I swapped over to bass after an hour. Tons of 11 inch bass, fished one point and you could get a bass on pretty much ever cast. Went out at 8 am and came back in by 1.

Going to Oxbow tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get some big ones.

I used double crappie jigs, white and yellow, then swapped to drop shot wacky rigged. Decided to stop after going through several bags of plastics. Looking forward to fishing the wall at Oxbow tomorrow, always a good time for lunkers.
