What's the main food source there? Shrimp? Insects? Minnows?

I've had friends using flies and killing it out there.

Years ago when we use to troll there, we used flatfish and all the fly fishers would say there were freshwater shrimp there. Unless things have changed it was artificial fly and lure only lake. Some folks would ice fish it but we never did because of the no bait rule but there were a few folks that iced fished there and claimed to catch them without bait.

I use flies only and in the winter have my best catch rates. Fished it on Dec 4th when the ice was 6" and killed it. PM me if you'd like to see my set-up. Been using the same set-up for years and still it works. Planning on headin back up Thursday to rip some more lips.

Welcome to the site and thanks for the info. When you say you were using flies, does that mean, ice flies?

Hit Daniels today. Ice was good. There was 7-8 inches. Had a whopper of a day. Hopefully the weather holds and we can continue fishing.

Thanks for sharing pics. What pattern? Lure? Is that a jig with curly tail grub?

Those are some nice fish. I assume you caught others and these are the only picture worthy ones?

I caught approx. 25 but nothing over 20. Those were about 18 ish. Not there to take trout home to eat. I just like to catch and release trout. It really didn't slow down til after 1. Probably hit it again this weekend with friends.

Nice, looks like you have that place figured out. Is there still a slot limit there? How was the snow?

Great fish Mahi! I'm thinking Sunday may be the day I get out.

Limit is 2 trout. None under 20 inches I believe.

That is what I was thinking, 20". I remember years ago, while I was up there trolling a nice 18" bow totally swallowed my lure. It was bleeding really bad before I even got of out of the water and since it was under the slot size, I had to let it go. I was thinking, what a waste, as it floated belly up and we trolled away[Sad], then out of no where, a bald eagle came swooping down and grabbed it. It had a hard time lifting the fish but it kept going. Sure make me feel better that, that fish did not go the waste.
Good luck if you get up there.

Yah 2 over 20". I only catch a couple over 20 every year if I'm lucky. Good thing I really don't like trout. Got a freezer full of Mahi-Mahi, Yum!

Oh ya the snow was about 6-8" on the ice and the road up to the dam is good as long as it doesn't get too warm it should still be good for few days. Well back at it tommorrow, PM me if you wanna get conditions in case I forget to post. Wife needs lotto tickets, I guess I have to fish then.

I was there today. Fished from sun up till 330 or so. Caught over 30 in 9 hours. Ice was around 5 inches or so. There were a few motorized sleds on the lake. Vertigo jig with cutter bugs and gizzilla in either white or pink worked for me.
