Wet boot at Pineview
#1
Was accessing North side of Cemetery Point, at the point East of the parking lot entrance. There were a few people out fishing and the edges looked good.

started walking on the ice, but veered onto some snow that looked packed, and my left boot sank down above the top and it was water not just slush! My right foot was ok and never broke through.

I must be very unlucky, because it seemed like the only place like that. It was late afternoon and I planned to stay late, but this changed my plans.

I fished for an hour or so, and took off my boot to wring out my socks and do the best I could. As soon as the sun went down my foot started freezing up and getting very cold, so I called it a day. Darn it!

Anyway, be careful, stay on what looks like solid ice, not the snow drifts. Hope everyone has better luck than I did.

That is a miserable way to start a night fishing trip for sure. Glad it wasnt worse but a freezing foot can take the fun out of fishing.

Yes, in all my years of ice fishing it was the first time I got that wet. Usually pretty careful.

Another lesson learned.

Late season ice fishing has begun. Be careful out there. Ice off is a couple weeks away in places.
