Has anyone heard of news regarding raising the water now that dike addition appears to be finished?
Can't remember it being this low.

[#0000FF]The water levels have been lower at least a couple of times. Once was at the end of 2004...at the end of the last big drought. Couldn't even launch from the north marina...or the south. Next was when they sucked all the water out of the lake to repair the east dikes. That was from the end of 2006 into 2007. Both times the lake filled with spring runoff.
Hope that happens this time. But we need enough runoff to fill the reservoirs upstream too.
Attached are a couple of pics from early 2007.

[#0000FF]Cross everything crossable...arms, legs, eyes, rods, wires, streets, rivers, lakes. Couldn't hurt. Well, maybe a little in some cases.
Lookin' good. I got faith it will fill...at least better than anything in the last few years.

[#800000]Right now, it's questionable as to whether or not Willard will fill this spring. Looking at the current snow water equivalent (SWE) of the northern half of Utah, it shows about 95% ([/#800000]KSL Report[#800000]). I think it will be good, but I'm not going to bet money that it reaches full pool. I'll probably be on it by the first week in April looking for some Pisces' tugs.[/#800000]

[#0000FF]Agreed. The best we can say right now is that the snowpack is way ahead of last year.
But the official annual percentage thing is predicated upon the measured snow-pack on April 1...the arbitrary designated date of the beginning of runoff.
There is reason for optimism...of at least getting Willy back up to a higher level. But questionable as to whether it will fill...especially to the new higher level after the dike raising thing.
However, as we have seen a couple of times in the past, as soon as Rockport and Echo are looking good they release a torrent into Willard. And it only takes a week or two to bring that lake up several feet. All we need is about 10 to 12 feet more water and the water will be well up into the rocks.
Rock on...and bring more snow while you're at it.
Lookin' at trying the south marina maybe tomorrow.

This picture taken at the S marina Sunday as well. You can see the effect of the inlet on the ice.
Plenty of room for float tubes, just got to mindful of moving icebergs especially if the wind is blowing your direction.

[#0000FF]Lookin' better. Only another 10-12 feet to go.
Maybe next week's weather will help.

That is really impressive that it would raise that much in 20 days. With Willard's huge surface area it takes a lot of water to raise it that much.

I was at Willard yesterday and the docks are floating. I talked to a guy pulling a boat out and he said that the channel was 6-7 ft. this was at the South Marina. I did not put my boat in I just went to scout it out. The DNR truck and empty boat trailer were in the parking lot so the water is deep enough to get the ticket boat out. But if you are not the one buying props, you probably do not worry as much if you touch bottom. I am going out Saturday with the boys to see if we can have any success. I plan on taking the kitchen sink just in case.

Would like to know the depth just off the ramps. Thanks for the update.

It was deep enough that I could not see the bottom but at that clear water place that is only about 2ft. However, the weed tops were covered with water. Not a lot of help. I have a direct drive boat so I will not be attempting it until I can confirm the depth. If I had a boat that I could pull the motor up, I would go. I think it is deep enough for that type of boat.

I agree, my motor does not have power trim so it is pretty much down or up. Why I haven't been wanting to launch in the south. Hate the north not enough room. Only one la e with a line long enough to reach salt lake

I launched my 20 ft trophy 2 weeks ago and had plenty if room to pick up my driver, however I did tilt my main motor.
I think.I saw 2 to 3 feet below at the dock and it has come up quite a bit since then. I'll be launching from the south from now on.

My last boat also did not have power trim and so I installed a prop protector. It saved my prop on many a trip.

launched out of south marina today. Both docks are in the water far enough that I had 2 - 2.5 feet under me when tied to the center cleat of the east dock. 10 yards off the docks in the marina it is 4 to 6 feet. Middle of channel is 6 to 9 feet. Mouth of the channel to the bay has a slight hump off to the right, but still about 4 feet. get well out past where the buoys usually are and it quickly slopes down to 11 -12 feet. Pretty much that deep most of the south half of the bay, except in far south west pocket, where its down to 17 feet.
