swan valley/palisades dam bank fishing
#1
Found this forum and its great. Really enjoy the posts. Originally from Ammon area and return every year to fish w my boys as my dad did w me starting on memorial weekend. We usually fish rainy, fall creek camp ground areas but just havent had the luck i used to w worms and high water in years past. I saw a post about fishing on paliSades banks and was wondering if anyone had an idea where and what to use? [fishin]

Drive into the parking area below the dam where the boat ramp is. Follow the trail going around the transformers and towards the head gates. Anywhere from the bend up until you hit the fence is where most people fish. It's shallower closer to the bend. I usually use kastmasters or crocodile spoons in there or if I'm up against the fence that works or bottom bouncing half a night crawler on a #2 bait hook or using mysis shrimp flies. If you try that you use a decent amount of pencil lead due to the current. If your kids aren't very old I'd reconsider taking them there or at the least make them wear life jackets. Real easy to slip on the rocks there.

Thank you! We ll try that. When i was younger i used to go there and did well when they first opened that up to fishing. Have you tried fishing on the top of the dam from the banks? Btw I hope your getting better. I read about the accident and Im sorry to hear that. My kids are older and so Im willing to try more spots with them. Thanks again for the help. Really enjoy this forum and the people.

Thanks, will do. I went out and loaded up on worms and other lures suggested. We are going to try fall creek areas, dam, and above dam.
