My buddy and I hit Echo yesterday AM. There was a tournament going on, so many more boats than we are used to seeing. As a note of interest, the winning fish was only 20". The dam construction and draw-down really has impacted the trophy fish we used to see regularly.
We trolled Rapalas with no luck at all. These have been our go-to for years. We switched up to RMT dodgers and squid w/ a worm and started picking up planter Rainbows. Pretty steady catching all over the lake. Cookie cutters (ave. 14-16") for the most part that were all released to grow up. Biggest one caught for the day was about 17". Our assumption is that the big ones died off over the two years of low water, as we rarely even saw anything of size on the fish-finder. We will probably pass on Echo for a year or two to see if the big ones return later on.
