Starvation Help Needed
#1
I will be taking the family to Starvation next week. We will be camping there and I will have my boat with us.
My 11 year old grandson will be doing a lot of shore fishing when we are not in the boat.
He will be trying for bass there.
We are not targeting anything specific from the boat, so any tips are welcome.

The boat has both an electric and gas trolling motors and down riggers.
We will be camped by the bridge at the Camperworld Park. That is where we launch from.

Will Walleye fishing be worth trying?
How about trolling for trout?

PM's are welcome.
Thanks,
Dale.

[#0000FF]Starvation has been getting a lot of runoff (cold) water this year. It has been spilling for two months. The fish are healthy...especially the trout. Walleyes have been a little slower but are warming up with the warming water. Ditto for the smallmouth.

The Strawberry River arm...from the bridge to the inlet of the river...has been kicking out a few walleyes and a lot of rainbows. Walleyes have been on crawler harnesses or vertical jigging on points. Rainbows are hitting everything...including flies.

Smallmouths are just starting to spawn so look for them around the rocky shorelines.

Perch are just starting to move into shallower water. If you can find warmer coves you should find some perch in 20 to 25 feet of water.

There is not a lot of friendly shoreline for shore fishing in that area. But if you can find a spot with some shallower water near shore and then dropping off into deeper water you should be able to catch smallies, trout and maybe even a walleye by casting worm tipped jigs.

Sending you some additional info by PM.

Good luck.

The water is HIGH! Lots of flooded brush everywhere. The rainbows seem to be a little smaller this year but there are still plenty of big ones. Most of the walleye I have seen caught or my buddies have caught have been on the small side also.
The bass fishing for me has been amazing. It's been a good crankbait bite for all species for me. The bass are at all different stages. pre, post and spawning.
