Any suggestions on methods that can be used to at least slow down the ice accumulating in the eyes of the rod while ice fishing? I have heard several suggest using products like WD-40; however, I believe that product may harm my fishing line. Any tried and true methods out there?

I guess I'm gonna have to try that one out its very frusterating thinking you've got your bait on the bottom only to find it out later that its been hanging just below the surface and thats why you haven't been getting any bites!

Glycerine has been the standard answer for that question for years. In your local drugstore.

One other thing that helps, except on the coldest days, is an oversized tip eye. The water doesn't accumulate as fast as in the smaller eyes so look for ice rods with the oversized tiptops. They still freeze up just not nearly as fast and they are easier to get the ice out of. They are a little hard to find at times but keep your eyes open for them.
