We blasted off with a plan to head downtown, then work our way back. We started out catching 5 small fish on a topwater before we made our first move. I caught our first keeper, and about 45 minutes later, our second keeper. Then I heard a strange noise, and it was the trolling motor, which had started with a small crack on the head of the unit that had nearly exploded. Everything inside had come out of sorts and now the motor would not work. We figured at that point we had to go somewhere where the wind and current would not put us in harm's way without the trolling motor. We decided to run all the way to cave lake and hopefully catch some topwater fish. We got back there and saw very little topwater so I started throwing a texas rigged worm in the grass. This resulted in our last and largest keeper. We fought the wind the rest of the day with the big motor only, and made it back.
Going to try and fix the minn kota...if not guess I will be buying another. Tough day, but we survived for a third place finish.
