Best beer for beer batter

I am wanting to try some new recipes. Is there a better beer for beer batter or does it matter? fyi, I'm not a beer drinker, so I don't have any on hand to use.

i mix any beer with milk 1/2n1/2 with a shot of lime juice. let sit for about 1/2 hr, the milk will curdle and little, just stir it up some more. take flour, add garlic powder, sea salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning. shake the wet fish in the flour and fry. so good, it will make you slap your momma!!!!!!!!!

One can of Hamms, one cup of flour and enough Johnny's seasoning to turn it pink. You may need to add a little more flour depending on the amount of crust you want coating the fish, fingers steaks or veggies.

It doesn't really matter, but make sure it isn't flat. Beer batter is unique because of the carbonation in the beer, not the taste. The carbon dioxide in the beer is released as a gas when the batter hits the hot oil, making the coating lighter and crispier. I'd stay away from strongly flavored beers, though, since you might get an off flavor.

I'm not opposed to using beer. We tried a beer batter tonight and liked it very much. However, if it is the carbonation, would something like 7-up or Sprite also work? Just wondering.

Club soda works great if you'd prefer to avoid beer. I'd stay away from soda because the flavoring and sugar would probably result in an unpleasant taste.

I prefer to use a flat Alaskan Amber. Any flat beer will work but I like the added flavor the amber adds to it. Everyone has their take on it but for me this works best.

Now beer pancakes I use fresh beer, cheaper the better. Light, fluffy and delicious - especially with huckleberries added.
