I can't provide any information about the ice over the whole lake but I have fished Knight Hollow recently and there is about 5-7 inches of ice in PARTS of that arm. You'll have to use extreme caution because the inflow from the canal has overrun parts of the ice sheet and there are pockets of slush frozen to a crust. It's spooky when you break through the crust but the ice underneath is usually OK.

We weren't able to go out very far to our normal perch spots. We fished closer to the points and we did very well on the rainbows. We never did find any perch although they have to be somewhere around.

Drove by on Monday and looked like about 40% open water while driving over the bridge. May be thick enough further back in the bays, but not convincing enough to make me stop and investigate.

Was it iced over to the South of the bridge? Been on 4" in the past to the S when there is open water to the N. Thanks for any info!

Looked more like slush than hard ice to the south of the bridge as far as I could see.

Gonna get cold now, so it shouldn't be long.

with -3 in WVC this morning, if they can have a couple of nice calm below 0 days I do not think it will take long to make some safe ice. Lets hope for cold and calm for a few days.

It was a calm cold night at Starvation last night and it finished capping. I fished the north end of the lake (Knight Hollow) and did well on rainbows. No perch or walleye. I was fishing on 5" of solid clear ice over 25 FOW. I also drove around and checked Indian Bay and Rabbit Gulch. They are capped but not sure of thickness. Rabbit had a lot of open water as recent as Wed. Dec. 4.

TopH2o -- Glad you're keeping an eye on Starvation...hope we can get together again sometime this season, maybe again with DuBob and maybe Earl...late last season we pretty much got skunked and somebody got a wet foot, but this is a new season and hope prevails - and good memories of perch chowder from a few seasons ago...Guluk...

If you ice fish Starvation very much this winter odds are we will run into each other. It might be a week or two before I get over there again depending on whether the group makes the Cascade trip next week. If there's no trip to Cascade I will be fishing Starvation next week. Take care and stay dry, no wet feet.

Everything that I could see from the highway today if froze solid and had a skiff of snow on it. But there wasn't anybody out fishing on it.

Looking forward to getting on the ice a Starvy soon. I actually am looking forward to meeting some BFT members this year. Kinda want to put a face to a name thing. If you ever see either a black Ice Cube or Quickfish 6 tent with a purple Polaris RMK sled stop by. Would enjoy the company and any tips anyone could give.
