Deer Creek/Jordanelle?
#1
I know, everybody wants to know about ice.

I want to know if anyone has driven by either of the ponds and if there is still some floatable water for a tuber with cabin fever?[Wink]

Thanks to anyone who has some information!

Deer Creek is frozen down to at least the island maybe farther but there was still stean coming from the lower portion of the lake at 2 this afternoon. Checked the ice by the Charlston boat ramp and ther is an inch to an inch and a half of clear ice.

Jordanell has ice in the Hailstone arm down to the main boat ramp and the Rockcliff arm has ice half way down that arm. The main part of the lake by the PWC ramp is still wide open. I didn't check the ice thickness but yesterday it was mostly open water.

Tom,
My wife and I drove by Deer Creek yesterday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m.. At that time is was still snowing and the wind was blowing quite strongly. Most of the lake was ice free including the bay up near the inflow of the Provo River. We came down the road from Midway. The ice that the others have described must have formed overnight when the temperatures made their plunge.
I suspect with the coming warm spell and winds, what little ice may be on the lake will go away for awhile. I say take your tube and give us a report.

Thanks, all you guys for the update.

It's nice to find out the latest conditions before driving all the way up there.

It sounds like both the reservoirs are doable, now if we can just catch a break in the weather.[:/]

You'll see a report if I go.

Have always wanted to ice fish Deer Creek.

From the few reports I have read in the past it appears the "Island" is one of the more popular spots to ice fish? Thanks!

Yes the island is a popular spot and people like to fish up by the Provo River inlet and Rainbow Bay too.

Last fall the DWR planted over 70K trout so there should be plenty of fish to catch.
