Decided to get out for the first time ice fishing this season with a overnighter on the ice at fishlake. 6-8" snow in some places with 6 inches of water between the snow and ice. Slush monster is bad right now. Fished 50ft only managed 3 for the trip. The slowest I have ever had it there. Talked to a few others that had the same luck for trout. People were catching perch. Drove down by Bowery before we left there's a few spots just out of the marina and out by Joe's bush that looked like it just had capped no snow on top of the ice. There was 4-5" of clear ice and another 2-3 of frozen slush. Be careful next week if your going to the perch bash. It's not be very cold down there, wasn't really cold last night.

We fished FL Saturday as well - went out of Mackinaw. The south end looked like there were quite a few people as we passed and it was tent city as we left. Glad we went to the north end of the lake.
We found 4" of clear ice with about 4-5" of snow on top. closer to the shore there had been slush but it had frozen and was not bad. We started well, but the crowds started to form so we moved north toward the Bowry marina and the fishing picked up. We brought home some decent splake and a couple suckers for bait. Turned back quite a few rainbow and smaller splake.

I also fished the north end of the lake on Saturday. We found a lot of unsafe ice around Joe's Bush so be very careful out there! You can see that section of clear ice that recently capped, but there's a larger section that's only 1.5" thick and looks very similar to the surrounding 5" stuff. One group walked across the thin ice pulling sleds and luckily did not fall through.
Fishing was relatively slow for us. I caught 6 trout and about 20 perch.
