Did anyone ice fish Vernon last year? Ive always wanted to....just haven't yet.

It was slow last year. But it is a fun place to fish. Remember that the Bennion creek inlet pipeline comes into the reservoir on the west side near the spillway. The warmer water makes for sketchy ice at best and sometimes it stays open water. The rest of the pond is usually fine. Road conditions are pretty much 4 wheel drive all winter and sometimes its not open especially if the wind blows and it drifts in.

I have fished it in open water for years. And figure it out each time im there. Have had 40 fish days multiple times. FLIES. And some really nice fish. Before they drained it. Caught many 6lbs and above.

i was out there last winter looking for deer and went to the lake just to check it out, there was about 5 inches of ice, a guy and his 2 kids were out there by the dam so i walked out. they were catching planter bows about as fast as you could drop the powerbait down, great for the kids!
