There is no safe ice, and not much to speak of at all. I am patiently waiting for Deer Creek to freeze, but I doubt it will happen this year. I did well for big perch on Rockport today. Biggest was 13 incher with most in the 8 to 11 inch range.

Spoke with the Conservation Officer for Deer Creek today. He feels that if it does cap, it will take several very cold nights and no wind. Traditionally, it does not freeze over till about the middle to end of January, so if it goes, it will be in the next 2-3 weeks. Usually, Wallsburg Bay and Rainbow Bay are the first to freeze, with the inlet right after. If it doesn't freeze, early boat launch !!!
