Willard cats and search and rescue
#1
Headed out to Willard this morning in search of a few cat fillets. Cookie is on a low fat order from the doctor before her surgery so making sloppy joes did not seem to be the right plan.

Got there early (just me). Planned to hit a marina per Pat's suggestion. Opted to go to the south and try the inlet canal . Made the turn towards the marina and a big barrier was up to prevent access. Then I remembered that they had been doing a search and rescue. Did not think much more about it. Opted, for time sake, to just run up the south dike road and drop over. Did that. Got rigged with a Carolina and Santee rig both with some chub chunks. Beautiful morning. Got a nice cat right off the bat as the sun started to peak over. Looked like it was going to be a great morning.

Then I noticed a big boat running up close to the dike pretty fast towards me. Made some smart-alec comment to my gopro (I was filming a YouTube video) about the ski squad out early. Then as it got close, my big dumb brain finally clicked, that this a DNR/Parks boat and they were laying out a grid pattern. In short still searching for a body I assume. Shortly after a chopper showed up and was also doing a grid. I watched them both for a bit and made some comments, on camera, about how diligent they were in their efforts to bring closure to a difficult situation. Then I hit my off button on the camera and just sat there and ponder while I watched them. I just made up my mind, sitting there,  that I did not need to be there filming a video. So I released my cat back to the water, packed up my bags, and headed out. I made a statement to my camera, a rather emotion one for me, about faith and family to close the video.

As I drove away, it was clear to me that I would never release this video on YouTube. Just not the right thing to do even if my intentions were good to highlight the efforts of rescue operation once I realized it was still going on. I will however share with you my final message that I had recorded as it has meaning to me. Carey always say that no matter what your challenges  are in life there is always something beautiful if you will look for it. She should know after two strokes. I dont know how that family will find what is beautiful in such a tragic situation but for me, this morning, it was in the simple feelings of faith and family as I drove down the road - back to mine.
Remember: keep the lid on the worms, share your jerky, and stop by to say hi to Cookie and the Cowboy-Pirate crew

The book of life is brief for some of us. I know exactly what you meant on your post as I will be attending my sister's funeral this coming Friday.
