In need of a great outboard mechanic
#1
All I want for Christmas is an engine that fires up when I turn the key LOL. I have a 2001, 90 horse Mercury. It has been a slow starter, but when it run, it a champ. I really love the boat, tracker 17.5 wide and very comfortable. This off season I want someone to go through the carbs/engine and get me to the point desired of not spending 20 -30 minutes getting it to run. Who is a trusted, ethical and qualified mechanic/shop to make my dream a reality? Any references would be greatly appreciated.

I second what Kent said, depending on where you live, Lee's might be a little far, but Lee has always treated me right.

Lee Leavitt @ Lee's Marine in Hyrum. He is the Mercury master! I don't know where you live, but I can tell you it will be worth the drive. He is also honest as the day is long.

I haven't had any engine work done, but Fred's Marine in Layton is well spoken of. They are a Tracker/Mercury dealership.

I have had occasions to use both Lee's in Hyrum and Fred's in Layton.  I rate them both at 5-stars.  I have also used Rogers Performance Marine in North Salt Lake and they were 5-star for me as well.  None will be 'cheap'.

You asked, "Who is a trusted, ethical and qualified mechanic/shop to make my dream a reality?".  I would say that any one of them would meet your requirements.
