Does anyone have any information on Mantua Ice?  I think it may still be a bit early but I'm not sure.

I think we'll get two days of building ice, then it warms up and will go away so probably not time yet... Hopefully soon though... Later J

The earliest I have ever set foot on ice on Mantua was December 8th one year.I remember drilling the auger and the ice cracked across several feet  It was a pretty cold early that year. The forecast doesnt look promising for any ice there anytime soon. Just be patient, and of course be safe when venture out. I didnt fall through that day, but I fell through Rockport last ice season, after guys said the ice was safe. No ice is ever completely safe.

Thanks for that report, I know it's starting to build around here, but not thick enough yet... Hopefully it won't get too warn the next couple days so the ice will hold... Love to see it get ice before Christmas but so far I don't see the weather report that will make it happen... Let's hope I'm wrong... Later J

Insanity strikes again! Every year someone falls in at that pond.

I seen some new funky foot wear that they claim will let you walk on water. Maybe they had a set of those on???? Thinking I need a pair for this early ice stuff, just not so sure my balance is good enough to stay on top of them... Then again maybe I'll just wait till it's thick enough to hold me... Later J

I keep thinking that snowshoes would keep you on top better, but just don't like the risk of what happens if you go through with them on your feet you wouldn't get out... but seems like spreading your weight out would help... Oh well best to stay safe and wait a few days... Later J
