Strawberry 3-26-25
#1
I had a sturgeon trip planned for yesterday, but conditions changed, where we were headed, that necessitated cancelling that trip.  I decided to do a solo trip to Strawberry.  Because I made the final decision when I woke, I got to The Strawberry Marina later than usual.  I started fishing at 8:40 AM.  It was really slow at my first spot.  After only landing 6 fish, in ~3 hours I moved to my second GPS spot.  It wasn't red hot there, but it was better than my first location.  Strangely, the bite was on fire between ~noon and ~1:30.  The bite totally died, at 2:30 and I left at 3:45.  It seemed strange to be the only person fishing around The Strawberry Marina for the entire time that I was there.

Maybe everyone decided to not go fishing midweek. Anything special in your catch,  yesterday? All bows all cuts? What do they charge to park this time of the year?

All were slot cutts. They charge $12 to park, at The Strawberry Marina, during the winter months.

It's a shame your sturgeon trip got messed up. But at least you had a good backup plan. That's wild that the fishing heated up at noon. It seems like I struggle to catch during those hours! It's awesome you had the place to yourself.

I thought with the crazy warm weather the edges might start getting too soft to access the ice. And I wondered if slush could be a problem. No issues with either of those?

Lots of soft snow (~2" thick), but no slush.  The ice on the shoreline broke, a little, when I got off.  Ice was 22" thick and solid.

I may have to come down with some sort of ailment and get out there one more time next week. I fished it twice last week (Friday with my wife and Saturday with a friend) and the “good times” were similar. 9am-11:30 was good, then slowed way down until 1pm. Then it was hot and heavy from 1-2pm then died off completely at 2:30.
