willard report friday.
#1
BLM decided to treat me to some walleye schooling out on willard today.

At the parking lot, we saw old coots truck and instantly BLM was wanting to find coot to collect the infamous "50 Bucks".

So we motored up to the coot floating there in search of wipers.

Then it was on to fishing.

We started out pulling spinner rigs for walleye and BLM who was getting all the action kept letting them get off the hook. Hes a self proclaimed "small fish specialist" you know. Anyways, after a while the wind got bad and kind of made steady controled boat operation difficult so we decied to switch up for some speed and go wiper fishing.

Once again BLM had the hot rod, but on the first fish, he shook the fish off as he was trying to get the rod all situated. Once again, if its over six inches he doesnt want to reel it in. Small fish specialist and all.

His next fish hit, bent his rod over twice and was gone before he could even think about getting up. At that point I advised him his fishing equipment was retarded and he needed to have it looked at. He said something about needing to loosen his drag so as not to set the hook on anything over six inches in length.

Finally tragedy struck when a wiper bit and magically hooked itself and couldnt get off. It was huge, probably one of those monsters we keep hearing about this year, but since he threw it back saying it was too big to photo or keep we have no proof.

So, once again the search for six inch wipers goes uncomplete. Maybee next time my friend. Dont know how the coot did. I kind of got the impression he just wanted to get away from us. Didnt want the small fish luck sticking to his boat.

oh, and for those of you about to fish with BLM, note he pays for gas in fishing lures! Yehaw!

Oh, and will someone get BLM a stuff organizer for christmas next year? The dude is packing way too much gear around for someone his age. A cooler full of beer, a box of pizza, three tackle bags, 12 rods, 4 changes of clothes, and a case of his special order cigars. All that for 3 hours of fishing.

I was pretty nervous putting my boat on willard. I had decided earlier not to at all this year, but those walleye just keep calling.

Sounds like you guys had a great trip, Predator you seem to always have a good story to tell when you fish with BLM. Did you find any sunken boats by the island? What was the water temp today? WH2

I do have to say, BLM's equipment may be faulty, but the man can work a rod.

That wiper was caught on the left side of the boat, and crossed over two other lines to the other side of the boat and when I netted it, it was free of all tangles. All we had to do was fire it up a go again. No messing around with tangled lines.

I dont know if I can reveal the new lure BLM was using. Last time he created the "modified producer" the secret exploded like wildfire and everyone was catching "his" fish. Theres a new version out now, its the "BLM, modified, trim down, with a dot prodcuer"

I cant reveal the secrets of the lure, but if you send BLM a PM I am sure he will share the secret with you.

I'd post the details of how baddly we got skunked but I'm too busy licking my $50 wound. What's that saying that goes something like "parting a fool and his money"?

It was plenty safe when i went up two weeeks ago and went out of the north marina. Since everyone's saying it's come up two feet since then I'd say it's fine. Just go slow, use common sense and your fishfinder and you should be fine.
