I was going to go last weekend, but the wind stopped me. I won't be out there this weekend either. Trying to get to the Willard meet, and have yard work to finish. I should be over there on the 10th,11th. I'll post any success or lack there of.
I am hearing reports of eyes being caught, so they must be waking up for the year. [signature]

Poncho is right. There are Walleye, Smallmouth, and Browns. Don't forget the chubs, lots and lots of chubs.
One of the viewer pictures on Doug Miller a couple of years ago was a kid holding a Pike he claimed to have caught in Starvation. I never could get verification that the Pike was actually caught in the lake. There are Pike in the river (Duchesne) below the lake, and I think that this is where it came from. I know I have never caught one in the lake, and with the way I fish, and where I fish, I should have if they were there. Shore fishing can be done, but it is a little difficult. Knight Hollow, the bridge, Juniper Point, Indian bay, and Rabbit gultch can all be accessed on foot, but you have to know where the roads are to get in. The bridge is the easiest access, just pull across and off the road on the Salt Lake side of the bridge on Highway 40. You can walk down to the lake over a ladder built into the fence. If you want some of hte other directions, let me know and I'll try to give directions that aren't too confusing. [signature]

I just talked to the CO over at Starvation and he said they are catching walleye. Tis the season. Hey Curtisfish, did you know there was a 25 pound channel cat caught at Starvation three years ago. If that doesn't beat all. I think you're right about the pike in the river. Never heard of one form the res. Did hear about a squawfish a couple years ago though. Oops, I mean Colorado pikeminnow. My bad LMAO

Cats, in Starvation!?! I hadn't even thought about it, but I guess they are almost everywhere else, so why not. Now I'll have to try for one now and again. I had not heard of the sqwaw.,; er pikeminnow either. The last of those I saw, I caught in the lower Green by Jensen. About 3lbs. Heck of a fight. It jumped three or four times and ran up and down the river. Wheeee

I floated the Ledore trip a couple years ago, and we caught a bunch of sqwakers. They are a fantastic sport fish. They love lures and are very game. Our biggest was about four pounds. They fight like bonefish. Absolutely fantastic fish. But for the record, WE DID NOT INTENTIONALLY TARGET PIKEMINNOWS (

I don't know how the popultaion is doing right now. I do know that the DWR set out 2 years ago to erradicate the species as well as others in the Uinta, Duchesne, and Green rivers. I haven't heard of any good catches since then. I didn't even bother going out for them this year. I have the report from the green if you are interested. I understand the desire to have the native species protected in these waters, but sometimes it is possible to create a grand fishery at the same time. All of the species targeted, are top predators of small minnows. Pike, Walleye, Smallmouth, and larger Channel Cats. If I get any information of catches still happening, I'll let you know.

Poncho Stavation will turn on the same time as Deer Creek for Walleye. It is usually the last lake in the walleye cycle to turn on due to the allitude. JUne any July can be hot. Lots of fish and a few good ones.
