Roanoke River Stripped Bass safe haven
#1
Roanoke River is now a Stripped Bass safe haven. The season is closed for the whole river but the river is still full of big rock. A lot of 20 lbs plus rock are being caught in the upper river with a few going over 30 lbs. The upper river is still under the Barbless Hook Regulation until June 30 only a single barbless hook or lure with a single barbless hook (or hook with barb bent down) may be used.

This past Rock season has been great with catches of 100 rock to the boat. The only thing that would have made it better is not so much water in the river. Some spots of the river where well over 15 foot high making boat ramps hard to used and most spots on the rivers edge where you tie up to fish where under water. Good new is the river is now going down and the river is still full of fish. A trip to the Roanoke would be a trip to remember. If any body has photo’s of rock they caught on the river I would like to see them.

The Roanoke River has world class fishing for Stripped Bass when the spawn starts. The catch and release is still allowed but the upper river is still under the Barbless Hook Regulation until June 30 only a single barbless hook or lure with a single barbless hook (or hook with barb bent down) may be used.

There are some guides for the upper river but you don’t need them to fish the Roanoke. Most all places in the river are good to fish. Anywhere you stop to fish you will catch some type of fish.

Rates run around $250 for a 4 hours of fishing. Here are some Link to some guides on the Roanoke River.
