Any advice for a Cast Net novice?
#1
Does anyone have any good experience with cast nets? I'm thinking of buying one to use on Lake Mead and don't want to go thru the whole learning curve as to what brands/features are desired or undesired. Also any tips on their use would be great. I have used borrowed nets before but to be good, I need to practice. Also I want to buy the right net the first time. Thanks in advance for any info I can use!

Get with Kent. I know he has one. Not sure on his experience but I know he has thrown it a few times.

Hi, yes I am the proud owner of a casting net. I have provided some entertainment for some fellow fishermen on another website. I have practiced and practiced, but I still usually get a mediocre cast. Below is a great site that Tube Dude found. They have an excellent video on using a casting net, and the site contains a lot of good information. Please become proficient at using one and invite me over for a demonstration.

A quick update. After watching the video noted above at work (faster connection - better resolution), I figured out what I was doing wrong with my casting net. I went to Strawberry yesterday and netted 80+ minnows in about 4 - 5 casts!
