Wiperslayer and I fished at LC this morning from 6 am to noon. We were the first ones on the water and had our best success from right by the ramp to the main body of the lake and back. Water temp got up to 70 degrees before we left and the lake is within a few feet of being full. Saw a dozen deer or so on the dive in, including a few bucks. We caught bows, cutts and 1 tiger trout all about 11 to 13 and lost a nice cutt right at the net that might have been a slot buster. All fish were caught on either pink or orange squids with spinners behind a dodger. We were using downrigger and had our best success between 25 to 35'. We had one quad hookup and several doubles. It was a little chilly in the morning but warmed up nicely later.

Rumor has it that I might be able to check splake off our list at LC, but it doesnt seem you had any sign of them. Past experience, have you got into them?
As a side note all my youth hunts were spent behind there in some great deer and elk country. Good memories. Wish it would have lasted so my kids could have seen it.

Thanks for the report. I was seriously thinking of heading up Saturday early and giving it a shot. Did you see any concentrations of fish? I've seen the cutts group up just like on the berry and have had success jigging them in the past.
I would love to tie into another slot-buster again up there.

Yes we did, in a couple of spots we seen them in good numbers. One was just off the boat ramp as it drops into deeper water the other was near the submerged peninsula, as you are going into the main body of the lake. Good luck if you get up there.

None on this trip but we have caught them there while ice fishing. IMO their numbers a pretty low though as are the tigers but they are there. The highest numbers of fish are bows and cutts.
I've never hunter in that area but we talk about it, on just about every trip. It sure looks like a good area and I know some folks that have hunted there. Desert pretty much owns all that upper area now, so if you drew a CWMU tag, you might be able to hunt it.

Funny how the fish will concentrate in the same areas year after year. Same places that I have found them in the past as well as others. Thanks for the reply.

No problem Dan, it's for sure with the trip, just be careful with backing down the ramp. The water is so high that you have turn as you are backing, when it is high like this, that ramp could stand to be a little wider.
