Knottyhker thought ice would be good today and he was 100% correct.
Five degrees heading to lake this morning and fifty-two headed back at 2:30pm.
18” of ice and very solid edge at ramp.
Backed down ramp and unloaded right on the ice.
Zero slush, just a bit of water on top due to such a beautiful day with the sun out.
No snow drifts on road, no drifts on ice.
Fished a little over an hour jigging a dodger and squid trying for a Koke, no luck.
Switched to a 3” twister on 1/8 oz. head sweetened with mealworms.
Had to jig a lot to fire them up.
When I had a looker I would make about 3’ rips and they would usually nip it on the 3rd or 4th drop.
They would not hit hard, just enough to bend strike indicator but not the tip.
Had to really pay attention, would not be easy for little kids.
Caught one Rainbow and nineteen Cutts.
I think I will end this season on today’s high note and stash ice gear tomorrow.
Lots of boat activity at DC so hopefully one of them boys will chime in with a report.
