Willard Monday 5/10

Saw Paddlers report:  decided to add this post a bit late.
We fished from 6:30 till about 2pm on Monday. We got 5 walleye 3 dinks released, 4 13 inch perch 2 keeper Wipers and lost a couple walleye. Was not fast but got a few fish. All caught on crank baits tried lots of colors not one that stood out better than others 2.2 to 2.6 mph.
Lots of shad balls marked and lots of small fish marked, guessing plant wipers?
Got 5 very small wipers trip before.

Nice, Peter.  What type of crankbaits worked best?  How deep?

Paddler, it’s not Peter but you are very close! P*****k . The Smaller fish we were marking seemed 5 to 10 feet down. We tried to cover all depths with various cranks, lipless, medium and deep divers.
Most fish on deep runners 7 and 9 flicker minnows/Shad’s and or
Rapalas. Caught some walleye trip before on crawler rigs. This trip all on cranks.

Thanks for the report, Last Saturday 7's worked best with 3oz snap weights 50/50 style, in 18' of water. Firetiger caught most the fish. It was slow with 3 keeper walleye. lots of swings and misses. and a wiper that got off at the boat.

Oops, I thought you were your brother.  I remember you from your Angler's Inn days.  And Peter from Sportsman's.  Good to see you're still around and posting up.

You probably don't remember but I bought my entire G&H goose shell decoy spread, 3 dozen Super Mags and 5 dozen Mags, from Angler's over 20 years ago.  Still have and use them.  Plus a bunch of fishing stuff, of course.

Didn’t you also buy Dave Crandall’s boat many years ago? I remember you I think
Last time I saw you and chatted was years back at fish tech maybe?

Byron introduced me to David and David introduced me to La Push. I had my 16'5" tiller steer Alumacraft at the time and fished out of LP in it for 6 years. David had a Gregor. I didn't buy his, I bought my Hewes in November of 2005.

I still think about David, a wonderful guy, and I feel a debt of gratitude for his showing me the ropes out of LP.
