So I've been watching the high country temps and they have been under freezing for five days in a row with no readings above 32 degrees F.... However, the lowest temps are only like 17.... I don't have time to go check, but I suspect that may be long enough to form some ice on the high country lakes.... Has anyone been out for an ice trip yet? If so how thick was it???? Any willing fishies.?? How much snow did you have to deal with??? Still got a couple weeks of finishing up on the addition, but starting to get excited for an ice trip... Later J

Oh baby, that is getting there for sure.... Wonder how long it takes to pull enough heat out of the water temps to make it tighten up??? Can't take too much longer at that cold of temps... Later J

Our fishpond has an inch so far, so we've installed our floating heater already to keep some air exchange. I'm sure if these cold temps keep up higher elevation waters just might have safe for ice fishing them come Tgiving time.

Supposed to be mid 50s this weekend. I think this is just a little cold snap.

The only ice I'm interested in is right here in my martini.

Hey Jill, I should have checked my irrigation pond before I wrote the post... I have about an inch of ice on it as well... So seeing that, I don't think it will be long...... Except for what Scott mentioned, that probably just shut down the hopes of early ice... Looks like only 30 degrees this morning in the high country, even though it's about 20 at my place... Must be inversion season... Later J
