Schools of shad flying out of the water, glittering in the early morning sunlight, with swift, stalking, pursuing predators in hot persuit. Casting nets gently splashing in the predawn hours, netting live shad for the day's outing.... HEY HOLD ON A MINUTE.......WHAT! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO NET LIVE SHAD IN WILLARD![/size][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 3]Well, this place isn't Willard and I guess I should of posted on the Nevada board since all this GREAT fishing is taking place in Lake Mead but I just wanted to let the wiper fisherman who like to chase the Willard boils know what it's like. Let's just say, imaging the best boils you've seen in Willard and times it by 10X. I have had the opportunity this last weekend to fish Lake Mead with my brother, who lives in Henderson, and have had a excellent time. Boil fishing right now, is hot and heavy and when it slows down, the live bait fishing picks up where the boil fishing left off. It is not hard to put 60 to 80 stripers on the boat in 4 to 5 hours of fishing. The sizes range from 1 to 6 lbs. The only draw back is I wish they'd fight more like a wiper........So I guess I'll come back to Utah and chase wipers.......[/size][/font]

So you finally got to see some of the "real" boils I told you I had experienced on Mead. You've been their several times now without much luck on the stripers. Mead owed you one and finally decided to pay up.

How big was the biggest boil you saw? I've seen them fifty yards across at least. What used to impress me even more than the width was the height of the boil. I've seen them several feet high with stripers, shad, and water flying in every direction.

Unlike Willard, Lake Mead is DEEP. Schools of stripers can rush schools of shad to the surface from depths much greater than that of Willard. By the time they reach the surface, the shad and the stripers are both MOVIN', and neither one slows down a bit. Fish hitting the surface will SLAM into other fish that have already hit the surface knocking them even further into the air. What a sight!

Sounds like a blast Mac. My parents live in Laughlin Nevada, I guess next time I go down to visit I should spend a little less time in the casino's and more time fishing![] [/reply]
